humming noise

this is kind of a vague description, so i am not looking for a correct diagnosis. but today i was backing out of my driveway and i heard this humming noise. i turned the wheel as i was backing up and you could hear the noise more. the noise went with the engine speed. and after i accelerated above like 5mph, the noise went away. and then i pulled up to a red light, the noise came back as i was coming to a stop. i really have no idea what it is. it almost sounds like something is rubbing. if any of you guys have any clue what im talking about, id be happy.

At frist I thought Power steering fluid, but that would'nt do it stopping for a light unless it's REALLY low, still I'd check it anyway
