Specific Heater Core Question
Heya, couldn't find the answer in search, but I was wondering...
I'm in the process of replacing the heater core in my 93 GXE, and the Haynes manual says you have to lower the steering column...
What I am wondering, is why do you need to lower the steering column, when the core is behind the glove compartment?
We have gotten about 40% of the way to the core on the inside so far (After about 3.5 hours and a LOT of language to turn a truckers head) and I can't see a reason for it, and my brother is not entirely sure.
Also, this question may be answered when we get a little deeper into it, but why do we need to discharge the AC?
Thanx for the help guys

the heater core is a B!TCH to get out, as you well know by now. in order to get all of the ductwork around it off, you have to take apart most of the dash. it's a horrible mess. I believe Jeff92SE has done this, so he may be able to provide you with some input as to what actually has to be removed.
