RE: air cond. and heater problem
I had the same problem. You need your blower amp replaced. If the service rep says that the blower amp is for digital climate control units only. Tell him/her to replace the equivalent for the non-digital controler. My total bill (including labor) was $109. The blower amp Nissan part # is: 27761-85E01. Good luck!
Need Help, please!

Hi to all of you!
I have a problem with my air conditioner on my Nissan Maxima '95: it goes on and off. I've been told by the mechanic that Fan Control Amplifier needs to be replaced. He estimated the cost of the part plus installation about $350 ($200 for amplifier and $150 for labor).
I decided to search the Internet for this problem, and found your blog. Thank you. But here is my question: one Nissan dealership offered part number 27761-85E01 for 140.53 + 13.06 tax = $153.51. However, when I called another Nissan place, they told me that this part is wrong for my vehicle, and checking my VIN number they said I need part number 27761-70T04. They want for it $96.32 + tax. I was about to order it through them, but realized they charge 15% restocking fee for the returned items.
So, I wonder if anybody could help me out with this question: which part number do I need: 27761-85E01 or 27761-70T04?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Or find your local junk yard that has some '95 Maximas, pull your blower amp, match it up to one from the yard, ask the guy if you can test it.....though the odds are in your favor it's good, pay the man, then smile at having fixed the car yourself and spent maybe $10.
BTW, I assume the amp for the 4th gen is in the same place as the 5th gen.....$150 labor for 10 minutes of work? Really?

I have a similar problem too!!!
I drive a 94 maxima & my ac only blows on high & so does the heat. I tried to use the defrost the other day and steam came out of my vents!! Sometimes when I turn on my AC the car cuts off or stalls! Idk what to do!
Welcome, Lily.
Is it running normally before you switch the a/c on? Or does it idle low or rough? I'd reduce tension on your a/c belt and see if your pulley is seized (diesn't turn as freely as it should). If so, turning on the a/c is making the engine try to turn that pulley and making it work REALLY hard.
THere is a resistor in between the switch and the fan that tells it to blow at a reduced speed, at least when it's working... both on heat and a/c mode. IT's toast. I'd suspect that that seam was just condensation siting in the system, as humid as it's been the past week or so. Hope this helps! Resistor should be cheap and easy to replace. I'd help but I'm 1,500 miles or so away...

similar problem for as well, I think
My '94 Maxima has an issue where the blower/AC seems to stay always on. As soon as I turn the key to ACC, the fan starts up. The air blows at what would be level 3 on my digital control unit, regardless of if I have it on or off. I can increase the speed to 4, but 1 and 2 are the same as level 3. I am curious as to what the issue could be, as it is beginning to get cold and I prefer not to have the outside air blowing into the car. Any help would be appreciated. If there are any more questions about my issue, I will try my best to answer.

I have the digital control unit and cannot actually find a replacement anywhere. Also, is the fan control amp different from the blower motor resistor? Because based on reading the forums I thought my issue was similar to people with faulty resistors and I had that replaced to no effect. Also, I can turn the fans off by pulling the heater & blower fuses.
