92 SE Nasty Surging problem
Just picked up my first Nissan!! Got it for a great price, has a bad cv
joint a broken passengers side mirror and it sort of smells like a cat
sprayed it! The real problem is the surging, it surges so bad it really
can't be driven safely. It just cycles from idle to 3500 constantly, no
apparent vacuum leaks and it has a new O2 sensor when I drove it, it seems
to run smoothly with plenty of power. Would a clogged injector act this way?
Where do I begin, don't want to have to bring it to the dealer!!
Does any one know where to access the lights to read the trouble codes and
the procedure to access and interpret them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Best thing to do is buy (or borrow from the library) a service manual. This should tell you the codes and how to get them. To get you started, surging diags look at the oxygen sensor (through a test for it, might want to check its connections too), EGR valve, and (last) suspect the ECU itself.
