How many gallons does my fuel tank hold?
#3
a month or so ago, I ran the sucker completely dry (as in stalled on the side of the road, had to push it to the pump)
it only took 17 gallons to fill, and that was after I splashed some out when I filled it completely up! ??!?!?!?!

so being that our cars are fuel injected, if you run it dry as you did, and you put gas in your car will it start right up? I mean I've always heard that is worse on fuel injected cars to run out of gas...I wouldn't know what it does as I always fill up at 1/4 tank. I drive so far going to & from work that I dont like to have any less going either way.

speaking of f*&^ed up needles..
mines crazy..I can fill up my car..then say 30 miles down the road my needle will read 3/4 of a tank then during the next 30 or so miles it will go back up to full and vice versa...at first this freaked me out & I thought I was leakin fuel as I was driving..but now it does it all the time...weird..

Whoa my gas needle seems to go slow before 1/2 tank, then it starts to go faster to 1/4 tank. btw how much gas mileage are you guys and girl gettin' i get around 350 to 400+ city/highway is that good or should i be needin a oxy sensor soon?

Yeah, Jaybird.... I think that's about right. I just did a little over 400 from one end of the needle to the other. Sittin' there thinkin to myself, 'oh, I can make it'. Thank goodness I did!! Would not have wanted 2 be in your shoes, Matt, and have to push my car. Especially here in ND!!

ive heard that car companies do this purposely to make the driver feel good about his gas mileage...if your needle goes slowly to 1/2 a tank then drops quickly thats their doing...you shouldnt worry unless you notice your gas mileage per tank is below around 300-340 you should normally be higher than that

hmmmn... i really dont know if this could be an answer...but since you live in upstate ny where your higher above sea level than most people your car gets less air to breathe cuz your so high..so i think the car works a little harder using more gas and probably intaking more air to compensate.. but thats just my theory ,sounds good though...just ask a maxima owner up there what mileage they get and compare...good luck

what the hell? im getting really crappy milage i think.. like 200 miles a take, but then thats judging from a quarter being at 50 miles, and then now im just about at half and the counter sais 95 miles on it. Is there something wrong with my car cause i know i should be getting much higher the 14 MPG!!

the gas millage does suck.
if i drive 60 miles i use about half tank of gas at about 65-70 mph. but at least you get alittle time before you run out of gas completly. my needle would be on E but i can still drive like another 30 miles before i'm completly empty. i think my guages might be F$%ked up.
