I think I read that somewhere, but want clarification from the gurus. Does this imply that the 3rd gen is the best handling most sporty of all the maximas?

Thanks in adv.

2nd Gen also have 4W Ind. suspension. The independent rear probably works better on crappy roads around turns. But the newer Maxes have stiffer chassis and lighter engines so are probably better on decent roads.

as has been said, the 2nd and 3rd gens both have independent rear suspensions, BUT available coilovers for the 4th gen cars and a more powerful engine provide the 4th gen with enough capability to eclipse the performance of a 3rd gen..

unless you want to get into stiffening the chassis on a 3rd gen or adding turbo, a 4th gen is still your best bet for a track racer.. (not that a 4 door grocery-getter is your best idea to take to the track anyway!)
