91 se agaisnt a gti

a kid down the hall from me has a vw gti vr6
his car kicks *** and im sure we are gonna get around to racin sometime. i was just wondering how you guys think itll turn out
that car has a bit more hp than a vg but i have more torque, and available much lower in the revs,
but then againt, that thing only weighs like 2800 lbs
i thinks its gonna be a good race, ill probably take him off the line then hell pull ahead

but then again he has a handful of mods that might destroy me without a problem, racing chip, cone filter, catback system, upgraded plugs
i just got a cai for now and im hopin to advance my timing soon, but im stuck in a ****hole of a town for school right now, so i doubt that happening

hopefully were havin an autocross/car meet in a week or 2 so il find out then if my school ok's it
sorry for borin ya guys, this turned out to be long as hell

well the 1.8t was in an a4
they are much heavier so thats probably why ive won againt him, that and it was that autoshift tranny
the turbos on em seem to take a long time to spool up, i dont even think they are that big.
the vr6 is a much better engine all around, which is probobly why im gonna lose, i still think i might take him off the line. i just doesnt seem to launch well. but after that, forget it

Yeah..my dad has a '99 turbo Beetle w/a 1.8t (not sure if it's the same engine or not). I used to drive it a lot before I got my max, and I'm tellin ya..that car has some serious power behind it for a 4 cyl bubble. it also handles really good..seeing as how low to the ground it is. but anywho, if you ever get the chance to drive one, go for it. It'll change you..I actually have respect for Beetles now!

you could or could not lose.you know it also depends on the driver.i personally think the vr6 and 1.8t are pittiful.maybe cause neither will beat me and everyone i came up against have been confident they will.

I was looking into a VW for a while and the new 1.8t with just an ECU upgraded are around 230 HP and 220lbs. Running in the 14's. The older VR6's and the newer ones are mid to low 15's, but the VR6 does not offer **** for upgrades compared to the 1.8t. For example, his ECU only adds around 5hp, nothing that great. With a ypipe and CAI, you could hang, but with only the CAI it will be very close.
