your right but vtec and vortec(in gm's) is actually advertized any idiot whos ever seen a tv commercial would know that, where its not even remotely advertized for max's so someone who dont know about cars wont know. sum guy will go wel yukyuk i had dun see me a honda with vtec(he probly dont know what it is) but he knows its a special "goodie" so he gets it just like vortec on chevys but ford dont advertize anything like that

Vortec is just a model designation like SE or GXE but for the engine. It has nothing to do with VTEC.

Stuff like Fords 2.0L "ztec" engine. Does it have valve timing. HELL NO. But someone comparo shopping may say....oh...this one has vtec.....oh....cool....but this car also has ztec so its comprable.

my sister has a 98 contour ztech its slow as #@$! ..shes jealous cause i just got my max and borrowed it and was suprised by its power...shes one of those people that think if its old its slow....proved her a!s!s wrong

not only did they copy the vtec idea without actually putting valve timing technology in the engine but they used a similar name. I guess 'Z' is further down the alphabet than 'V' so it's WAY better than Vtec!!! bahahahaha
