wiper squeak

Figured I'd get all my questions out of the way all at once (previous A/C question.

I have a very annoying squeak coming from one of my wiper arms (91 SE). Removed the arm, and the rubber boot underneath to grease, but really no area available to accept any lubricant. Anyone know how to get down further into the arm mechanism? Thanks in advance for any help.

You have to remove the black plastic cowl cover that covers the wiper mechanisms. Remove the wiper arms, pop open all the tiny covers, remove the ONE real screw in the middle, carefully pop off the retainers under the rest of the covers (push them out going up and down, not sideways or they'll snap), pop off the other clips holding in the rubber weatherstrip in a similar way (can't see them but you can feel them), then carefully work the cowling off. Be careful not to snap the plastic ends off of them, as they kinda slide up under the side windshield trim.

This should give you access to all the linkages, pivots, and everything under there.

It's important to note how high up the wiper arms were BEFORE you take them off because on my car there is exactly ONE spot that the driver's wiper must be or it impacts the hood (when lifting it up) later. On my car the driver's wiper is higher than the passenger's. Good luck!
