Need help from anyone who knows their way around a relay, for turn signal mod..

Wow, I'm learning all kind of things tonight. I love the org! I'm pretty knowledgeable with car electrical workings, but have never really grasped the specifics of verious relay wiring. I have sidemarker lights on my car now and they are wired to come on with my park lights (rice I now but I like it) and I would like them to blink off when I use the turn signals like on a honda. Anyone know how to wire this? Thanks

all you need to know and more on my how-to page

http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte671n/mymax.html

look in the corner rewire
just pretend the sidemarker is the little orange bulb and wire it that way

also, check out the page on how relays work and applications

good luck

Okay, I understand how this will work with the park lights on from your diagram, but how about during the day, I want them to blink then too.

I rewired my buddies 2k max so that his turn signal and side light would blink simultaneously during the day, and then at night when the side light came on with the other park lights it would blink off, alternating from the turn signal. Thats what I want but cant figure it...Ideas???

If i'm correct you installed some aftermarket sidemarkers on your car and you would like them to blink when the turn signals blink.

The turn signal bulb is an 1157 (double filament), so there three wires going to the turn signal bulb, one ground and two power. One power for continuous on when you put the parking lights on, and one power wire to blink.
All I would do is wire the power wire from your sidemarkers to the wire power wire in the turn signals that blinks the turn signal. So that way your sidemarkers and turnsignals blink simultaneously.

no...
signal is 1156 (that thing in your front bumper)
the cornering light of the side lamp (the big bulb in the corner light) is 1157, it is on with the P lights, and brighter with the signal (not blinking though, that's why it's called a cornering light, when you're turning at night, it lights up what you are turning into for you...) the side marker part of the light (the part that's yellow on OEM corners) is like 194, just for the info...
so no...
sorry, not wanting to sound rude, just in a bad mood

alright, cybflyer, go there to read about how relays work...and/or go to howstuffworks.com and read what they got to say. then once you know how what you're doing works, you'll probably be able to do this...
what you'll need to do is have a relay that the power wire from the parking lights to the side marker goes through. this way when you have your lights on, the marker will come on. then run a wire spliced into the turnsignal + to the relay connect that will cause the lever inside the relay to disconnect the contact for your marker power wire. then just ground the relay and you should be good. hope that helps..sorry if it was confusing.

did you read that page???

that how-to was up before the 2k max even came out

blinks during the day
comes on and then alternates blinking at night

easy peasy

Craig did you get my mail?
I did your "corner rewire 1" and it works like you said it should via the hazard switch but nothing happens at all when I use the steering column switch, what happened? How do I make these work now?

sorry I didn't respond to the email yet, I've been busy yesterday and this morning

that's pretty weird, maybe it's a fuse?

check over all the wiring again to be sure too
