How to prime oil pump?

How to prime oil pump?
Ok I did the search but didnt find nothing on it, but is there any other way of primeing the oil pump without packing the thing with petroleum jelly. Because I just replaced the crank shaft, and I was wondering if there was any other techniques to priming the system. Thanks for any replys
