How to get rid of pin stripe??????

Hey guys. I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of that factory stripe on both sides of my car. Besides taking it to a dealer. Anyone know how much dealers charge to get rid of them?

Wait til it's a hot day, get a blow dryer, put it on hot and just concentrate on every bit of the pinstripe and chip it off w/ your nails. I'm already startin at about a centimeter a day

ah yes i forgot about that. As I recall, someone got back to the passenger side door and there was some clear coat or another stripe and it left a lil dent there, so be careful. That's why I was worried about mine and doing it slowly

I used a hairdryer and a lot of patience. When I got desperate I used some paint thinner. I wouldn't advise it, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

there is a can of sticker removal spray you can get at pepboys for 3.50
Just spray, wait 5 minutes and peel. Has anyone tried this before.

Tried 3M adhesive remover (spray type) and it helped the stripe come off easily but it still left some of the adhesive behind. Used a lot of patience with a razor blade and the spray to get the rest off.

Someone on the FA site suggested fishing line for sticker removal. Not sure if will work for the stripes, but I'm going to try it soon.

fishing line for emblems..no way a sticker.

3M makes a pin stripe removal tool. it's a rubber wheel that acts like a eraser for the stripe.

Use DIF, mix it about 3:1 water/DIF, and it'll take adhesive off anything!

Yeah but doesn't the paint around the stripe fade? Won't it look kinda silly if you take the stripe off, and it still looks like it's on because the paint might be a slightly different shade? I want to take my pin stipe off too, but I am just nervous that the paint will be a different tone and it'll look more stupid then if i were to not touch it. *shrug*

That was me - The rest of the car looks pretty good, but that one rear door looks like A**.

BTW - If I would've used the hair dryer for the entire car, I would still be out there f'n with it. I ended up taking a razor blade and VERY carefully ran it just behind the pin stripe. It worked great, and got the pin stripes off the whole car in about 15 - 20 minutes. Then I used some kind of chemical my neighbor gave me to take the glue off.

You can still see where the pin stripes used to be, but only if you look close.
