Clutch Problems

Ever since i had the orginal clutch replaced a lil over a year ago, it has always been spongy... and not quite as responsive as the old.
I was racing a celica gt the other day, and when we went off the line, the clutch was like non responsive. I engaged first, and the engine just reved and the car was barely moving, took like a few seconds to actualy move, and then by that time i needed to go to 2nd. Same with all the other gears, same sluggish response. A buddy of mine said i have to recalibrate some screw thing. Any suggestions?

OEM Nissan clutch? Key value clutch kit? If it's the Key value one, they suck.

Nissan Clutch, i guess.... all i know is we towed it to nissan and they put a new clutch in, and of course found other problems wrong with it and was like 1300 bucks. Rip off, i think so!

Clutch is pretty crappy from the feel, my fried has some aftermarket clutch in this Zx and it is much more smoother and responsive, though i dont really want to get a new one right now if possible

I had the Key value one in my VE maxima. It couldn't even hold better than my old worn out GENUINE NISSAN OEM CLUTCH WITH 80K on it. Might want to check on the receipt.

Also, you might want to check the clutch fluid level and maybe rebleed the line. But I doubt it's the problem

Gotta look into that, though i've herd that if i tighten some calibration line or whatever the clutch will become more responsive or something along those lines. Any one know where the line itself is on a 91?, I've looked all over, and hoping it isnt behind the dash.

reach down where your slave cylinder pushes on the clutch fork (or as nissan calls it, clutch release lever) see if you can wiggle the clutch fork. if it moves than your clutch is fully engaging. if it's REALLY tight you might have an adjustment problem. i emphasize MIGHT have an adjustment problem. it might just be a perfect adjustment. . . .

Ive had this problem when i replaced my clutch!!!! There is an adjustment!! Its inside the car where the clutch master cylinder comes into the car and there is a screw that needs to be tigtened up! It is a long screw and there is a U shaped metal type bracket that the screw goes through if you look where the clutch master cylinder comes into the car down by the pedals youll see what im talking about, you cant miss it! Just tighten that up and you are good to go. Im 99.99% sure thats what it is because i replaced my clutch and i had the same problem. the car would rev but i would barely be moving and i could smell the burning of the clutch! Well good luck!!!!
