I have a 90 Maxima and was getting gas and notice massive water coming from underneath it from the front(passenger side front of engine) Replaced what i THOUGHT was the problem, the water pump. However it still is leaking a steady stream that is NOT coming from any upper hose, water pump, heads, intake. When under the car it is dropping off of the timing housing but coming from where?
It isn't missing, no water in oil, no smoke, but evertime i fill it with water(not wasting coolant) it continues to pour out. HELP! is there freeze plugs around that area or something I am missing?!?!?!?!

freeze plugs are very common to go out, and they're on that side of the engine. I know a guy who replaced his water pump 3 times on his 89 before he found it was a leaking freeze plug.

wow... I'm kinda behind on this thread.

But... I just took in my Max to have the timing belts changed for the first time since I bought it. The mechanic says that I have leaky freeze plugs and they need to be replaced. He says the problem is that in pulling the plug out, there is a chance the threads might be pulled out too, which means that the head is going to need to be re-machined.

How hard would it be to get a plug out? Is the risk that high of pulling the threads on the cylinder head?
