Exhaust tone...

Going to be strating some mods on my 92 SE. sound like intake and exhaust are the way to go. Is ther a big difference between the CAI and a pop charger? Any loss of torque noted? Also is there any way to give are cars a rumbly v-b throaty exhaust tone, like flomax and dynomax. I have heard so many roce rockets that sound like a weedwacker gone bad it scares me. I don't want to be in that club. Looking for a deep rumble idle and some nice roar when you get on it. Not the tinny screaming chainsaw drone.

Thanks

I saw your post on RISR, I hope you get everything worked out.
From what everyone says Dynomax seems to give a good rumble. The CAI gives slightly more power in real world situations(some pops proved more power but I think that was because of the hood being open on the dyno) The one big thing is If your ever in the area (WARWICK or SK) you can just get the MAF adapter for $12 at the Drivers Seat for $12 and use the filter of your choice.

the larger your exhaust, the deeper it'll be. . . .

Hey flyry - How is your dual exhuast set up?

I'm thinking of getting the dynomax super turbo for a good

deep tone (dont want that loud annoying racket).

I love the look of the twin exhuasts - so if its not too hard...

I might do that..

thanks

well, V8 club probably won't happen. Mine rumbles like crazy at idle, and below 2500 rpm. it's deep and sounds great. above 3 grandish it roars. I just listened to it on autox, but in between shifts it does rasp. sounds neat. not real ricey, but there's some, but hey, it's no 5.0 anyway

it's a 2.5" y pipe, to a 2.5" flex, then to a 3" high flow cat, to 3" pipe, it splits off after the rear control arm to 2 2.5" pipes. hope this helps. . .

yeah that helps - so how much would all this piping and welding cost

on a 3rd gen? would a shop like mineke do this?

ok, from MY guy, it cost 500 for the Y pipe, flex, cat, and all piping, MANDREL bent, with a 4 year warrenty. then the mufflers were 100 apiece. so. . . . it just depends how you want to go. if you go from just the cat back, i'm betting you could do the piping for around 250-300 bucks.
