sway bars

Sway bars don't prevent bottoming out. On the contrary, they offer little or no resistance when both wheels are moving down together. They resist one wheel moving up or down, relative to the other as you would experience when cornering hard. In this case the sway bars limit body roll.

If you are bottoming out, the shocks or struts are the first place to look. Third generation oem struts are good for 20K miles at most.

Good luck,

John

As john said, the sway bar won't prevent you from bouncing (but I don't think that was your point anyway)..

the only aftermarket sway bar out there is made by suspension Techniques.. I have them onmy car, and they make cornering MUCH better. you don't loose too much ride quality, but it is a little stiffer when you get on uneven roads.

if you're bouncing up and down enough to bottom out your car, then you need new struts.. mine used to do that terribly, then I dropped the car 1.25" and got new struts.. I have yet to bottom it out again while driving.. only problems I have now are when I drive over large obstacles and try to jack up the car.

but yes, the sway bar is the lowest point on the car.. no, the aftermarket bar doesn't offer much difference in height.. if anything, it hangs a little lower but I don't think so.. it pretty much fits the stock dimensions under the car.

in your case then, you're probably hitting the bumpstops on your suspension, not actually "bottoming out"..
many people have cut 1/2- 1" off their bumpstops. I left mine alone, but many people say they have problems bottoming out if they don't. you'll have to remove the struts to be able to trim it, but that may be what you need to do.

I'm not sure on the links to the stillen catalog stuff, but try calling or emailing them and have them send you a catalog. I placed an order with them back in the spring, and I now get 2-3 catalogs every time a new one comes out.

bump stops

if i did trim up the bump stops would that be a bad thing? you said you left yours alone, your car looks pretty low how do you know hear the banging? the noise just pisses the heck out of me you know? and its just on the right side.
aihgt thanks again
