Axle problem ?

Sup everybody......well I've been having a weird clunking noise the past week, It started off as i knock when i would engage 1st gear and step on the accelerator, i would get a weird clunk when the car would start to move from a dead stop.....since then the clunking has went away from dead stop, but now it clunks really bad when i shift from 1st to 2nd kind of aggressively, and when I make a left turn....Before this I used to be able to chirp really easily from 1st to 2nd, now its like a drag to do so and really doesn't chirp unless I rev the ***** out of it, Any assumptions or answers are greatly appreciated, Thanks.

you are corect sir..

one of your axles are bad.. same thing happend to me, although i knew that both cv boots on my axles were broken, then at the ttrack when i returned to thepit i heard this whirl/ clucking sound when i made a turn, HAd my axles changed by a family friend for 200 for remanufactored axles. Total for labor and both axles for me was 200.. a steal.. but i have to be warey with the remanufact, as when theg changed it the first time i got a defective one. I think as most others do a search for axles, they are some place that make new ones, but are expensive, next step is to go to a junk yard and get it off another maxima, or get the remanu, Good luck, and get this taken care of before more damage can occur to the tranny, imho..

My car does exact same thing, except I've got an automatic and it actually make it slip. It seems to only happen when it's cold, and I get a lot of slack when I press on the gas, and same thing with left turns, it feels like it's binding up underneath. I've tried to diagnose it, but I havn't found anyone with the same problem. It's just started doing it on the right turns. It just started when I replaced my transmission. If anyone has more information or has had this happen let us know. Also once you change them, let us know how it works.

Max420, does your car feel like it is binding up underneath, when you are accelerating during a turn? Does it feel like there is slack when you accelerate from a dead stop? I'm very interested because it sounds like we have the same problem but I havn't found anyone else with the same problem.

I think I might just replace them, since it's only like 120 for the pair. I'll let you know what happens.

Sweet, thanks for the link Crazy4maxima. I think it's the inner joint because shuddering best describes it. I'm going to replace them this weekend.

Changed the axles on Saturday, took my time and it took about 4 hours. The old ones were original, and looked and felt shot, I could push the joints in like an accordian. Anyways, I got the remanufactured ones on and it works great! Fixed the problem, it downshifts smoothly now, and during turning it doesn't bind up. I bought the axles for 64 a piece from Napa with a lifetime warranty and they seemed to be of very good quality. It feels like it has 20 more horsepower also, it's great. Max420, if you havn't done this yet, I know we talked and we had the exact same problem so if I were you I would go ahead and do it. Let us know if it fixes your problem too. Thanks for all the help!

Wow thanks a lot bro, well i took my car into my Automotive shop and the instructor took a look at the car, he did a few stuff and said it really wasn't from my suspension, he lifted the car up and checked the ball joints on the each side, from what he told me he assumed that they were in good shape, then he made me get into the car and put it in 1st gear, he told me to push in the clutch and pull it up while in gear and push it back down really quickly, it sounded just like the noise I was hearing, he concluded by saying that he thinks it was the back motor mount, I just don't want to changed the motor mount and still have the problem, i will definitely look into changing the axle, i remember before this problem started, I used to have a large amount of power when I would gun it in first gear, now it feels like I've lost some of the power, I hope when I do change the axle that I would definitely feel the power too, Thanks a lot for your reply.
