HELLO EVERYONE
PLS PROVIDE ANY HELP OR OPINIONS YOU MAY HAVE.

I HAVE A 1992 MAXIMA GXE. INTERMITENTLY THE FACTORY ALARM WILL GO OFF EVENTHOUGH I HAVE UNLOCKED THE DRIVER'S DOOR.
I DO NOTICE THAT THE CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK FROM TIME TO TIME WHEN I UNLOCK, THUS RESULTING IN TRIGGERING THE ALARM.

IT HAPPENS EVERY SO OFTEN, AND I AM AFRAID TO USE THE CAR AND GET STUCK SOMEWHERE AS THEN THE ALARM GOES OFF, THE IGNITION CUTOFF ALSO ACTIVATES. SO FAR I HAVE JUST GONE AS FAR AS REMOVING THE HORN FUSE WHILE THE ALARM IS RINGING.
THEN I WAIT ABOUT 4-5 HOURS AND ATTEMPT TO UNLOCK THE CAR AGAIN. SOMETIMES THIS WORKS, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT LONGER.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN DEACTIVATE THE FACTORY ALARM?
WILL INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET KEYLESS ENTRY/ALARM WORK?

HELP ME PLS

THANKS IN ADVANCE
TONY

The factory alarm is found underneath the steering column. It is difficult to get to but it can be unplugged. I installed an Ungo 9000 in mine and tapped into the wires I needed. I only tapped into the horn wire on the factory alarm harness and got other wires as needed in other areas, like the emergency blinkers at the Hazard button; and the door lock/ unlock in the driver's door. I mounted the unit in the middle console just under the coin tray, in that area. So, unplug the alarm harness and go for it!

WHEN I UNLOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY W/THE KEY, IT DOES NOT DEACTIVATE THE ALARM.

SO THE ALARM WILL SOUND AND THE CAR WON'T START

Sounds Like

The computer that controls the alarm needs replacing if I were you I would replace it off of one from the boneyard. I had a alarm installed on my old max and it was a pain having to worry about the remotes and worrying about people scanning you for your code of your transmitter, and it would mean that your keyless entry would no longer work unless you set it up to work with the aftermarket alarm. I have had both factory and aftermarket alarms and I find that our type of factory alarm is a little more convienent than an aftermarket but still deters theives.

Opinion: the only thing that the oem alarm is good for is the starter kill. Otherwise I say install an aftermarket. Most newer, high quality alarms have a scan guard feature that rotates the signal frequency on the remote to make it harder to steal. Personally, I think that the problem may be more something in the door lock itself that is supposed to sense the key and disarm the alarm. I'd check the door sensor switch. Another question......Does the alarm still go off if you try to unlock the passenger's side as well, or is it just the driver's side that this happens? That may narrow down the search!

True, True, True

I don't know I guess its a personal opinion and what works for you. I used to live in an appartment and I would hate it when I got all the way down stairs and realize that I forgot my remote or times when I have lost my keys and I can't go anywhere because I need the remote to dissarm the alarm and can't use my spare keys. But then again I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body! Ryan.

I got the same problem with you. Sometime, if I can not unlock all the doors with the key, the alarm will go off with the driver door open. But for the passanger door, everything is fine, I can unlock all the doors and the car will stay silent.
The first time the alarm went off, I tried to stop it with the key, so I inserted the key everywhere it can be, finally, I find the alarm will stop once I open the trunk with the key. I will try to fix this problem when I get enough time to do this, before that, I will go one of the following opitions:
1. open the driver door, when the alarm goes off, open the trunk immediately to stop it.
2. use the passanger side to unlock all the doors.
3. use the keyless entry, it always works for me.
Hopefully at least one of them will work for you, so you can save 4-5hrs everytime

The alarm shuts off for me when I open the trunk, If I notice that only the drivers door has unlocked then I go back and open the trunk, then I can open the door without the alarm going off... Good for when you're in a public place
