Camshaft oil seal

Is there a special technique to removing the oil seal? I can't seem to get it out. I've tried using a screwdriver but I can't get any leverage.

I just used a flathead screwdriver to pry it out

just be careful to make sure you're prying on the oil seal only and not scratching the metal sides around the crankshaft

Make sure you pry from all sides and then the seal will eventually come loose. I used a knife to remove mine, along with a lot of patience. AGAIN, make sure you do not scratch the metal housing or the seal will leak upon reinstallation.

I finally got it out. I used a small screwdriver to pry it out. I just needed to be more patient. Thanks for you help.

I want to clarify the way to remove the seals after I did last weekends.
At the beginning, when I tried to pry the seal from the outside edge, I found it didn't move at all. After I studied the seal I ordered from nissan dealer, I INSERT a small screw driver into the inside edge easily and pryed the seal out without sweat. Because the center of the seal is metal, it is very unlikely to damage the surfaces.
