Foglights .. Help!!

Hey... I ran into a problem. I rewired my fog lights and everything was fine.. only one problem. One of my fog lights blew. Can anyone tell me how to change the bulb? Do you have to take the whole housing off?

I know

I know that I can figure it out, I just think that there has got to be another way of doing it besides taking the whole foglight itself off. That would be a real pain. I was just wondering if ther was an easier way.

Unless you want to A.) Smash the glass or B.) Try and somehow undo the two tiny screws on the back of the foglight while its still on the car, then you need to take the whole thing off completely. I don't know how taking the whole thing off is a "big pain". My stock ones have 2 screws each -- takes me less than 5 minutes to get both off with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers for disconnecting the wires from the sockets.

Ya

I know its not that big of a pain, its just that I worked all day, then came home and rewired my fogs and then the light blew. I was just pretty ****ed, and didnt feel like putting forth the effort, but hey oh well, I'll go do it now. Thanks

change bulb.

If you look carefully, there are four identical screws holding up your fogs. Two hold the fog to the bracket, two hold the bracket to the frame. With a 1/4 inch drive 10mm (I believe) and a 6" extension, the two that hold the fog are easy to remove, the fog then just drops in your hand, The fog blocks the two holding the bracket to the frame. Just leave those alone. Disconnect the wire, and change the bulb on a bench. Worst thing you may run into is if the bolts have seized and are rusted solid. Then you drill. If they come out, even if rusted, put some grease on them so the next time they come right loose.

Good luck,
John

also

you might want to just go ahead and change both lights at the same time cause the new light will have a brighter shine than the old one since the lense is going to be cleaner and what-not. So you might have that mitch-match look goin on when their on ...I know i did when i had to change one of mine and had to end up waiting for the other light to be shipped to the dealer!!

Check my FAQ page, the procedure is there and you don't have to take the housing off. I didn't know that when I did mine a couple of months ago. If you take the housing off, plan on drilling out the bolt that will inevitably snap.

Or you could just run to Sears and spend $5 for a small little ratcheting screwdriver tool. It has a small philips bit on the end and works great for replacing those fog light bulbs. It takes about 5 min of laying on your back but if you have the right tool its much easier then trying to break lose those rusted bolts that hold the bracket on. When I get home this evening I can take a pic of the tool I am talking about if you want.

Just got the part number off of Bryan91SE's page. Stanley offset ratchet screwdriver" (part #68-412) I am sure most places that sell tools will have it.
