Eibach Tokico write up (long)

Well, i didnt come through for you guys,i had planned on documenting the installation and everything, but by the time i was up to my elbows in greese and the car was about 4 feet in the air, i said **** it.

But i can give you my impressions and hints.

First, a hint on installing, replace your bushings, with oem or poly, they are prolly broken or dry or stiff or worse.

on you rear struts cartridges, there is a little ring that screws onto the thing that holds the strut cartridge, make sure you spray wd40 or better on it a few times before you even try to get it off (as in the week that you struts are getting shipped to you), that bolt took us a pair of 2ft long wrenches, it was hard as hell to take off, (now i know)

other than that, the installation went very smooth for me (course i had access to a 4 pt lift, and air tools, that helps alot)

in my car the rear struts were totally blown, one would fall all the way down, and the whole cartridge had fallen apart, and the other would fall down 2 " er so

impressions.

Amazing, absolutely fantastic

The car corners flat as hell, it responds to bumbs well no bouncy bouncy. the ride was hardly affected (i had a 91 se) taking corners was a breeze, and i even run 225 tires, (wider than stock) on 15" rims, no rubbing even in the wheel well

i was driving in west va, and having a blast on 64 and 77 taking 60mph corners at 100 mph it was great

the day after i installed the struts and springs (i also put on a fstb) went autocrossing, pulled some very satisfactory times, had a blast, car took it all day, had a bit of understeer, but better than stock ( i think a swaybar would fix that) ill post some pics of autox and car when i get a chance

car also looks sleeker, sitting just a bit lower, getting rid of that wheel gap,

all in all, VERY satisfied, and would reccomend them to any 3rd gen

so there is no modding to do with the tokicos right? not like the konis? i got min in the monday and i was wondering if i should try and do it myself. i changed the alternator all good and i can do other stuff. just want to know if it is a hard install or not and does the stuff fit right on?

yeah sorry, no they havnt come by to see the package, i am suprised they havnt ups'd a check to you yet

prolly put it in the usps mail hahahah

yeah no mod's necessary, if you are sensable it is really easy to do, just takes some time, if you want you might remove the rear seat the night before, it took us FOREVER to get that bastard out of there, the rest didnt take but a few hours, make sure you get a good quality spring compressor, made our job much easier

its a simple install..the only real b****y part is removing the rear calipers and putting them back on... its definatly time consuming.
the fronts were a cinch (except for our stupidity, but thats not going to be the case with everyone), just make sure to line up the mounts. definatly a do-able job with a good set of sockets, jack stands and spring compressors (air tools would've helped up a ton).
probably the most time consuming part was compressing the springs...and my new rear springs (s/t) didnt even need to be compressed when they were put back on.

overall, get a haynes manual, do it yourself and save some money..just dont be a dumba$$ and forget to put the strut bearings in and realize "hey, i've got two strut bearings sitting under a pile of tools that should be in the car" at midnight when its cold and drizzly.

I have the eibachs and i am putting on the tokico's soon. I guess i should expect the same results. Is the ride severely worse over stock shocks with the eibachs, or about the same?

though its completely different than a 91 se,

and i also did them both at the same time

i would have to say no

the spring creates most of teh "harshness" the sturt just helps the spring .... spring heheh. you will have less rebound, but that is actually better than bouncing all over the road
