Exhaust Questions
Exhaust Questions
(Yes, I already tried the search function)
I plan to upgrade my VGs exhaust system. Before I install a y-pipe and a cat-back system, I'd like to modify the manifolds because my experience with other Nissan exh. manifolds leads me to believe that there are another 5 to 7 hp available with some porting and a performance coating. My concern is removal of the manifolds and broken studs. Other than "use lots of WD-40", anyone have some tips before I proceed? If you've removed yours and you had it to do over again, would you pay to have a shop do it? Tthis is an option for me because all my repairs are tax deductible. Also, anyone know the inside diameter of the stock stainless steel flex pipe?

Errr, and repairs are tax deductible? Or is that just for you? Otherwise, I got some plans...

Welp, if you're going to do that, and you haven't replaced the studs already, I would DEFINATELY do that... All of them, so they don't break under the "normal wear" like they do.

Disclaimer 1st: I'm not a tax advisor so before you make ANY changes in the way you file your taxes, go see a professional.
Helpful Hints 2nd: My opinion is that the most overlooked legal tax deduction is ownership of a business (which can be home based). My Max is used 100% of the time for business so 100% of my repairs are tax deductible... the law doesn't say I can't "Enjoy The Ride" while I use my Max for business. When I repair something (like the exhaust system), the law doesn't say that I can't replace a stock Y-pipe with
an after market Y-pipe (like WSP), especially if the aftermarket pipe
costs LESS than the stock Y-pipe.

But seriously, I would replace all the studs while you're at it, they're prone to breaking, as for the rest... Well, I'll leave the actual helpful info to the pros, but thanx for that little bit of info
