3RD Gens just a timeless Design!

I just see some 3rd gens and say wow those cars just look great for their age! What other car from "89 vintage" can you say the same for, these cars look as good as most cars made today and the interior in them is just stylish and great. I wish I had my 3rd gen still, but my brother is enjoying it and keeping it like new! You guys have a great car!

heheh,
my best friend was just about to buy a Fox style mustang, but then he drove my car at lunch today and I finally pursuaded him Maxima. who hoo, im so excited. the only difference is that he is going to get a 5speed(lucky bast.). anyway, just thought I would share with you. once he gets on, he may join the boards, he has some great ideas and lots of skill to get it done. he helped me install my stereo, but anyway, he's an All ford guy, all about V8s and I convienced him to go Maxima. It may not seem like a big deal but I just think its really cool. actually you guys will find it very funny. at my school there are about 5 or 6 of us with maximas and we kick everyones ***. its great, well actually only 2 of us do, but anyway, its fun, poor rich kids with theyre mommy's Lexus ES300s. we laugh at how we kill this kids in theyre $$$ cars and we have 10 year old + maximas and we just kill them.
anyway, sorry i got kinda off topic. thanks for the compliment. I wouldnt mind having a new 2002 6speed 3.5L, but thats quite a bit of money away and my ol friend has never let me down, even though the tranny could be faster, im workin on her

Jeff, you're crazy! Does anyone else agree that the 3rd gen design is the best-looking design of any generation Maxima? I've heard other people say that and I certainly agree. There is just that sporty BMW-type look to 3rd gen's but with the 4th and up it just got less and less sporty (in looks).

Mr. Gone, I know the feeling! There are some idiots at my school that drive riced out Hondas. They think they have such amazingly fast cars and that no one can compare. There is a teacher here with about a '88-92 Porsche 911 (964) Cabriolet, and I believe he has a few bolt-ons as well. Another moron I was talking to said he thought he could take or stay close to this 911 in his '97 Integra! I feel really sorry for him. Yeah, I bet an Econobox with lowered suspension and a fart muffler could keep up with a 170mph ACTUAL Sports car. As always, the idiocy of people can be quite amazing sometimes.

I agree the 3rd Gen is a very classic design. That's what persuaded me to buy a Maxima in the first place. Second is my 2002 5th Gen.

i think i've gotten about 4 or 5 of my friends to want a maxima giving them a ride in it, not even letting them drive it. everyday i go out to look at my car up on jackstands (stupid tranny) i still can't get over how cool it looks for an 12 year old car. 3rd gen's have the best looks of all of the maximas imo.

Yes i must agree! Today im drinving up my hill, look at my neighbor's 3rd gen max go a little farther and see my max sitting there and im like DAMN what a nice car! But im stuck do you really think a 10 year ols max is worth dropping mad $$$ into? Im stuck on whether to do a complete rebuild on it or not. I love it, but im not sure if this is the car to spend 8K on to make elite in the import world.

I agree with u all, I have friends who think my car is only a few years old when they look at it. One of my friends said that my car has the quietest most comfortable car he has riden in, minus his parents 300m. Just looking around at some of the cars from 89 to 94 there is not one that i can think of that rivals the max style, at least not until u get to the $40,000+ cars. All hail the mighty max

I couldn't agree more. I've had people been confused when I tell them that my car is 13 years old. They all think it was at least a 95 (non car enthusiasts) I was planning on getting either a 4th or 5th gen after this car, but now, all I want is a 92-94 SE 5 speed. 3rd gens with at least 16s and a slight drop is just perfect. When modded, and even stock, the 3rd gens look so good. In fact, my family has got 3 of them 4 maximas in total if you count my moms 97.

Thanks man, they are just the 5th SE wheels. I haven't dropped it yet. I'm going with the Eibach springs so I dont have to worry about the super speedbump at my school. I was saving for 17s, but I got a great deal on these.

yes it is an awesome car in terms of build quality and design but i just cant help but think of the reality...these cars are 8-13 years old and theres bound to be some large problem that i always worry will occur soon. Luckily so far ive only had to deal with little BS problems (fog light bulbs, window motor, loose spoiler, power antenna). Yes i know every car does have its problems somewhere at some time, but typically more so with an older, higher mileage car. Its too bad these cars cant be closer to brand new with avg sub-90k miles

yea im 15 and i couldnt agree with everyone more, but like that other guy i am wondering if it is worth it to drop at least 3500 into my car or more, i would like to keep it throughtout my high school career and then get a new max after high school, since my graduation present is a new car, but i did buy my max i have right now so dont think im rich but is it really worht it, my max only has 90,000 on it right now.

you know whats funny, is our cars look tight, but most of the other nissans at the time during 89-91 (except 300zx and i guess 240sx, but the 240sx got a lot better looking as time went on) were pretty darn ugly. the stanza was ugly, and that 200sx and pulsar/nx thing were both REAL ugly. not to mention the boxiest looking car, the 1st gen sentra. i guess the nissan guys focussed on the upper class cars more than their mid/lower range cars.

Nissan did a GREAT job with the 3rd gens, the 4th, they got sloppy, but the 5th they are doing better in the styling dept.

Well, originally, they came as factory components on newer Maximas so you shouldn't seem too surprised to see them.

Oh and thanks, I like them too.

i get the same compliments from other people out there on the streets even my friends think my car is like a '95 model until i tell them that its a '93 model. i really love my max especially the paint that it came with. thats another thing that confuses my friends is the paint on my car. they always tell me if i drive a black max or others say if its blue and then they say if its green which it is.

now if i only knew how to put a pic of my max on my sig so that u guys can look at it but im havin' trouble with that right now so if anyone can be so kind to tell me how to do it i would appreciate it

Well in fact the first time i saw your car with them i was thinking "WTF those belong on 4th gens!" (This was when i loved my stock rims ) But as i saw it more and more and played around with photoshop they grew on me. Not everyone has them though, all the 3rd gens i see around here are riding on the peeling and faded SE rims and GXE 'flower rims'

I had a 1985, 635csi back in the mid 90's. It had ABS brakes and sounded solid when you shut the doors and trunk. No rattles at all. Best car I ever had, sorry Maxima.

I know what you mean...I've had two people at work ask me if I was looking to sell my max(I said hell no obviously), One guy already had a 3rd Gen and totaled it...Then he got like a 98 929, and said he couldn't believe how much he missed his Max. Another was blown away when I told him it was a 91. He thought it was only 3 or 4 years old. Obviously not a car enthusiast...but just goes to show how before it's time the 3rd Gen style was and still is.

my dad has an 88 m6. oh man is that a beast. the retro styling is tight imo. its so fun to drive. i feel so safe driving it, because its like a solid block of metal, but then the weight factor comes in. but it still pulls like a biatch. great car. wish it was mine.
