Got my sts, now i'm lost

Ok, i got my pacesetter sts AND my tranny today so i'm going to be really busy. I am first putting in the sts because no one is here to help with the tranny. On the stock shifter there is a little metal piece with rubber on it under the ball. I guess i'm supposed to get that out but how? The instructions aren't clear enough. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you have to buy those parts new. I got the rubber part off mine, but not the metal part.

did you just break the metal piece off? if so that will be fine cause it came with a metal piece like it.

ok, pacesetter can suck my ****. their fuc*ed up instructions just got a bolt broke on my support bar. i'm so fuc*ing ****ed now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's like the instructions skipped some steps or something. well........ now my car is fuc*ked unless i get that stupid bolt replaced or something. any ideas?
