Embarassing, I broke my horn!!!

OK I'm at school looking for a parking spot so I can goto my professors office when some guy took my parking spot while I was waiting for the parked car to pull out. I did what anyone would do,
I honked my horn but I guessed I was so ****ed a hit the horn to hard and the horn just kept on blaring even though my hand was off it. So I just started to drive away, embarassed, while people were thinking I'm a crazy "horny" driver. I tried turning the car off but the horn still was blasting. So I took out the horn fuse nearly ripping my finger nails off which finally stopped the horn.

Now, how do I fixed this problem? Can I open up the steering wheel center, whatever you call it? Or do I have to replace the whole steering wheel. Cost$$$ info would also be appreciated. I really need my horn because of all the bad drivers in NYC.

I have done that!!! I took the center piece out of the sterring wheel and bended the metal contacts back so that they weren't touching without pressure. Take it apart and look at it, you should be able to figure it out. If you have troubles e-mail me and I'll try to help more.

Re: Embarassing, I broke my horn!!!

I did the same exact thing also, except it was when my car wouldn't start on the side of the highway. I took it to the dealer, minus the horn fuse, and they said that I "had a blown horn relay and a shot horn pad. It would be around 270 to fix." I talked to another nissan dealer and they told me they could get the parts for under $100 bucks. Labor is gonna be the expensive part. So if you can just open up the steering wheel like nismo says, I'd do that.

Yeah, I don't have an airbag so it was no problem. Just let me know if you have trouble, you can e-mail me or something at nismo1989@aol.com

Did the same thing here. I spent 2 weeks with my horn disconnected because I thought that I broke something in it. Turned out all it was was bent piece of metal. I felt like a dummy driving around with the horn connector sticking out the side of the steering wheel.

no, the car has an airbag. It has the two little button things on each side on the top "posts" on the steering wheel. I also have big hands so that could be the problem.
its kinda funny actually, but still it is annoying. no one has came up to me asking why I honk my horn randomly.

oh ok cool. I dont think it did, but whats to say that you cant take the air bag crap out if it? also the airbag stuff is by the cigerette lighter so im sure if you just unplugged that and maybe the led in the dash or just completed the circuit so the led stays off you wouldnt have to worry about it. but if your just trying to get the wheel i think you would beable to pull the airbag crap out.
Later

If you press on the center of the steering wheel and the horn honks, then no. If you have horn buttons on either side, then yes. If you can take the middle part out then there is no airbag, that is where your horn is.
