car alarm

I have a 1990 Gxe with digital dash, when I turn the car off there is a yellow looking light that comes on in the corner of the dash board that says security, I was always curious was that was. Yesterday I have my doors locked, but the window was down and my friend stuck his hand in side the window and pushed the lock up to unlock the doors and a alarm came on. That has never happened to me before I didn't know to deactivate it, it had to die down on it's own. But for future reference does any body know what the hell happened. I don't have a manual either.

that is the stock alarm
the light will flash if the hood/trunk/any doors are open

to arm it, just lock all the doors and close them
the orange security light will stay on for 30 seconds and go off which means it is set

if someone then opens the door without disarming it (reaching in through the window), it'll go off

to disarm it, just put your key in the door and turn it to unlock

What happended was you can't not open the door from inside when the alarm is activated or the alarm will start and if it dies own its own then the starter doesn't work and so you can't start the car. That is the security i have in my car. And to activate the alarm you just take the key from the ignition and turn off the car and then lock the door and then you will see that yellow security light own for 30 second and it will not blink. But after 30 sec it will start to blink and so the security will be own so no one can take your car. But if you open the door from inside then the alarm is activated then you will have to close all the door and then put the key in the door lock and lock the door from the key and open the lock from the key. that should turn off the alarm and if the alarm dies own its own and the car doen't start then repeat the process for turning off the alarm and you will be able to start the car if nothing is wrong. Later!!

Yeah, you can disarm that alarm by turning the key in the doors or the trunk, or by using your digital touch entry code ( if you've got one). Turning the car on will surprisingly not do it. If you forget all of this though, it will turn off by itslef after four minutes (of hell and lots of surrounding bystanders staring at you like an idiot while your horn blares and headlights flash at 7 eleven), or at least that's what happened to me the first time.

IS there any way that you can arm it?
