All right, as of right now my Max is out of commision until I get it to my mechanic. I have no idea what's wrong with it but here are the symptoms:
1. For the past week or two I have smelt a strong gas odor when I first turn the car on and when I turn the heater on.
2. The other day I saw a spot of green antifreeze on our driveway, but it wasn't where I park so I figured it wasn't me.
3. Last night I totally abused my Max and sent it into it's present state. I wasn't in a good mood last night so I was driving the car really hard. The automatic tranny was keeping up pretty good, and the car felt great. The night was full of tachometer trips to somewhere in the 5000-6000rpm range. I floored it several times, and I raced some piece of crap car on the highway which ended up with me doing about 90-95mph, which is a lot faster than my Max has ever gone. The car has 127,000 miles on it and I know I shouldn't have abused it like that so I don't need to be told why my car is out of commision.
4. I woke up this morning and there is a HUGE puddle of antifreeze on the driveway. I started the car up and the car immediately started leaking antifreeze in almost a constant drip. This drip was coming from (as you look at the engine) the left side of the engine just in front of the left wheel. If that isn't enough, when I started the car up, I looked under the hood and I could smell gas, and a new puddle began forming under the right side of the car. This was a puddle of gas, smaller than the antifreeze, but still large enough to scare the crap out of me. I found the source of the leak to be the bottom right hand side of the engine and I could see gasoline just rolling off of that part of the engine.
5. And to top it all off, my d*mn antenna didn't go all the way down last night, but I fixed that with some lubricant. At least I could fix something that was wrong with it.
So anyways, I know what is happening to my car, and I know what made my Max get to this stage of disrepair, but I have no idea what is technically wrong with the car and how much it is going to cost. My dad said something about a blown head gasket, and that sounds pretty d*mn expensive, but he knows nothing about cars either. So, does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with the car? Thanks a lot for just listening to my sad tale.

by the way

I have no mods on my car and I don't think I'm going to have any anytime soon because I already have about $500 in maintenance work to do the car and that doesn't count whatever this problem costs to be fixed. My Max may not have mods, but it will definately have everything fixed soon.

RE; Dead Max

I think you should first check the gas leak. On 1989 to 94, the fuel filter is on the right (driver side) side of the engine (when standing in front of the car and looking at it). Check for any fuel line leaks or fuel filter cracks. These are high pressure lines. As far as you antifreeze is concern you probably have a bad water pump. This can be expensive around $500 or so, beacuse you have to take the main pully off and then timing belt covers off etc to get to it and while you are in there, it is good idea to replace timing belt and other stuff that goes with it also. That all should cost around $500 or so. Do this first. Open the oil cap and look underneath it to see if you see any white foam. If that is the case you MAY have blown you head gaskit. Another way to look for it is the antifreeze reservoir where you can see oil/water mix.

Gook Luck

Re: RE; Dead Max

sounds like a waterpump to me more than a head gasket. just my opinion. i'd have to see it. anyway, you can get the part for around 100 bucks. if you work on your car at all yourself, then it'll probably take you around 3 or 4 hours to replace it, depending on your knowledge of your max and what tools you have. my buddy J and i replaced mine in just over an hour using air tools. but he worked at a nissan dealer adn worked on em all the time. hey, what did you lubricate to get your antenna to go down all the way? where did you lube it at?

Today was the first time it got stuck, and I have been lubricating it for awhile so it doesn't make that annoying noise when it goes up and down. Basically I put some lubricant on the whole mast that was up, and turned the radio on. Then my dad pulled the antenna all the way up while it tried to extend. He applied more lubricant, and then I turned the radio off. We repeated this process of turn radio on(make sure antenna goes all the way up), lubricate whole mast, turn radio off(make sure antenna goes all the way down) maybe 10 times. I figure if I want the antenna to continue working, I will have to do this maybe a couple times a month. I have been considering though just disabling the antenna motor while the antenna is up and leaving the antenna fully extended. Just a thought though. Thanks for your reply.

carwash

In a perfect world, I hope to never have to take my Max through one of those infernal car wash machines. Yeah they may be quick, cheap, and easy, but they never clean the car to my standards so I just stay away from them. Just my $0.02
