help with E-brake handle install

I want to install an aftermarket E-Brake handle on my 91 se. How do i go about it?? Do i cut the original handle and just put the new one over it??
I've tried to remove the plastic covering the handle, but it didn't come out easily. Is the handle seperate from the plastic covering it??

Thanxs.

E-Brake

I just finished this mod on my 91se a week ago. The stock e-brake cover is attached pretty damn good you can try the hairdryer ( I didnt ) it might work. I had to cut the cover off with a utility knife in sections. Be sure not to cut too far down on the handle or youll have some bare metal showing at the bottom of the cover. Work slowly ( I cut the hell out of my hand doing this ). Also most of the cheap E-Brake covers wont fit without modification to the top of the handle check that the thickness of the top where the release button goes through is no thicker than an eighth to a quarter of an inch thick. I had to bore mine out to get the release button to stick out far enough to work properly. Most of the time the top cap screws on. I thought Id warn you a $10.00 Ebrake handle cost me $20.00 to have it bored out at a machine shop and a trip to the hospital for 6 stiches.

good luck
