Calling Houston Members: Y-Pipe & Cat Converter

Hi people...
Well I had the day off work today and decided to install my new y-pipe and cat converter that I got from WSP. Well All went well till I got to the 3 manifold / Y bolts. Well the short of the story is I ended up putting back the old cat and every bolt I took off. Is there anyone in houston who has access to some air tools and is willing to work with me in this install as people arecharging me 100bucks to do it and i'm kinda broke. Smirnoff Ice and brew's on me.

If your problem is everything being rusted together, the airtools probably arent gonna help. When I did my exhaust system all my crap was heavily rusted together. I used penetrating oils, air tools, huuuuge breaker bars and nothing at all worked. Didnt even get them to budge.

Ended up having to shell out $60 at a muffler shop to get it done. Good luck though.

What part of houston are you in? I have air tools, but I don't drink alcohol so it will cost you 6 bottles of 64oz gatorade hehe. Hit me up at nismo87@houston.rr.com.

SWEET!!!!

I'm in sugarland, just off of West Airport and Highway 6. We can arrange to install it anywhere you'd like, though I went behind the old albertsons and worked there.

Thanks people!!

Lets do it thursday, and For tonight and wednesday, do me a favor get WD40 and spray (like crazy) the 3 Front manifold Flang bolts, and the 3 rear manifold flang bolts.

so the Wd40 can soak into the bolts and penetrate, i would spray alot even if you drive it, it will burn off and it will be ok, when it does burn off, spray some more, it will make the job 10 times easier if you do this.

cool?

Yeah that works. My car has been smoking under the hood for a while cos of all the wd40 I've sprayed on the bolts. Problem is I can't reach the second set of bolts on the y. I've sprayed the bolts on the y / manifold, in front, but the second thats under is deep. I'll go out again in a lil bit and try and get to it.
Thursday's cool

try not to use an air gun. Just a long bar for leavage. Normally, the nuts and bolts are rusted and an air gun will snape the bots. U can take it to the shop and have them just remove the three bolts. Just let them know that is is seized up and they will use a torch to help loosen it up. I u break one of the bolts, the exhaust will have a small leak. I normally fix the car myself, but in the case spending the money will save u the headache.

I doubt if anyone will remove those bolts for me for free knowing houston repair shops. I guess we'll try the long breaker bar to take them off. By the way Mykizism (don't know your real name, my bad) how high are we going to get the car up? This is because the 2nd set of bolts might need us to jack it up real high (unless you have a hydraulic lift in your garage which will be perfect!) When i worked on it, I had it about 2feet up and was able to get all but the manifold bolts off as I said.

Thursday after school.
