Just Called Warpspeed

I just called WSP and they send that they were on backorder for the CAi for at least three weeks, as they are fixing fitment problems. What problems are they talking about?

True. I had to cut the tray to get it to fit back in.

CAI fitment issues

It is true, some minor issues, but easily cleared up. Biggest issue is trying to keep up with the demand. We sell them out as fast as we get them in. I will post here when we have them ready. Thanks for your support and interest in our business.

Dan, I see that you have the WSP Catback. What kind of muffler is it? Please explain the sound and noise level this catback makes with the WSP Y-pipe. I have a Y-pipe and every other exhaust part is stock. And will it be an actual noticable gain in power if I get the catback on top of my Y-pipe? Or just a change in noise? Thanks Dan.

WSP stuff

We are currently out of both, sorry. I promise to keep you posted.

I have a complete mandrel bent system. I have one of our mufflers on her and personally thinking of switching to a different model. I like the single tip better. It's pretty loud without a resonater, with tolerable. Most of the guys here in the know say only a few H/P gain with the b-pipe. I have to agree. It does sound pretty deep and low, and really barks when I step on it. I wish I had a way to post sound. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of more assistance.

Is it a straight through muffler? It sounds like it's too loud for me. I want something slightly louder than stock.

Aaron, It is pretty much straight through. You might want to call Dallas to see what he recommends, he is the King of mufflers. He must have had 10 different kinds on his Jeep in a years time.

So far we have tried over 40 different mufflers on the Jeeps to find just a few which meet our needs as far as flow rates, durability and sound levels. The Maxima mufflers we are testing have a different criteria but we have a group of mufflers coming in which we are checking flow rates and will dyno several that we like to see how they compare in different diameters.

The CAI back order is just that, we have just added a new mandrel die with a shorter grip length to help bend a few bends we need a little tighter. It took a little longer to get in than we figured but we'll have them available shortly.

Tomorrow we are bending some of the new 2-1/4" B pipes for the Gen 3, and some of the new 5th gen B pipes.

Watch for news of our new catalytic converters, higher flow rates and longer lasting substrates.

Thanks Dallas for jumping in the conversation. I will be interested in the catalytic converters for the 3rd gen, just as soon as I get some money. I am shopping around for quiet free flowing catbacks. Thanks.

Dallas
Dallas,
Why go back to 2-1/4? I pretty much feel that the 2-1/2 B pipe works wonders with the 3rd Gen max.

WSP b-pipe

Don't worry guys we sell b-pipes in both 2 1/4 and 2 1/2". We think the 2 1/4 is probably better for the VG autos. You decide which one is best for you.

OK
The Y pipe is what connects to the exhaust manifolds on the engine and runs to the cat converter. The B pipe is what runs from the cat converter to the muffler.

Mandrel bent means it has no kinks like when you use a pressure bender-look at the factory pipe and where it bends look at how it looks smaller...well on mandrel bent pipes it is a smooth flow and no kinks.

SS=Stainless-tig and mig is the type of weld they use on the Y pipe with TIG being the best and cleanest weld.

Hope this helps.

not sure I understand the question but the maxima has both a y pipe and a b pipe...re read my post it tells what the y and b pipe are...Stock b pipe on the max is 2" id (inside diameter) and the wsp one is 2.5=bigger better breathing.

I dont see how there could be a difference in performance in the mig and tig welds because its just a kind of weld and has nothing to do with flow but you would have to ask Dan or Dallas on that.

Hey Dan,

How much for the 2 1/2" B-pipe for 3rd gen? I can't find the price on your website.

Also quick question:

I already have a WSP y-pipe on my '93 SE with the carsound cat. I'm now thinking about finishing out the exhaust the the b-pipe. Should I go ahead and change the muffler as well while I'm at it? Will continuing to use my stock muffler take anything away as far as performance is concerned?

i would reccomend to you to change your muffler when you do the bpipe with a muffler that allows a 2-1/2" inlet, so there wont be any restrictions and your exhaust will flow 2-1/2 all the way thru.

Hey wassup Mike! sorry i haven't come online since yesterday...dsl messing up. Thanks a million for your help thursday. I can really feel the power now especially when running with the A/C on. The hole on the B-pipe has opened up even wider tho and I have to get it fixed by tomorrow for like $70 or so. It's waaay too loud. Concerning the Y and B pipes, I spoke to dallas this evening and he said the b pipe they make is sort of a universal fit for all specs of the 3rd gen. When you get a wsp b-pipe, you have to discard yout stock muffler cos the inlet comes from a different direction and it is also a 2.5" B-Pipe where as the old muffler has a 2.24 or 2" inlet can't remember which. WSP carries a muffler with a 2.5" inlet for $75. They can also fit universal tips on em too. That's my .02

Thanks again mike. As soon as the net is stable, i'll I-M you.
