I have a 1990 Maxima SE, and the exahust system does not sound right. When standing near the rear of the car you can hear a put put put sound coming from the tail pipe. When you hit the gas the sound gets really fast paced. The engine sounds and feels like it is running smoothly, so I'm not sure what is causing this problem. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

 

Sounds like you have a hole in your muffler. Inexpensive but quality replacement mufflers can be found at www.warpspeedperformance.com
