My FM reception works fine, but AM has a lot of static. I don't have the Bose. Only the standard factory radio cassette player. Is it the antenna or the unit itself?
It did it last year too and then eventually corrected itself somehow.

AM has an internal antenna, in the radio itself. Lighting or ignition signals can cause static...bad grounds, bad spark plug wires,bad wiring jobs. I'd check grounds first
