Vg33

I just posted this over at Z31.com, but I wanted to expand my search for insight, so I'll drop it here too. Anyone know the interchangability of parts between a VG33 and a VG30. Things like crank, pistons and exterior mounting locations are of concern. Does the 3.3 get a displacement boost from a larger bore or a combination of bore and stroke? Any help would be great as I am planning a seriously built turbo motor for my Max, and want to do it right the first time, or at least get the major components in place. Thanks for the help.

Re: Vg33

All you can use is a VG30DETT crankshaft and connecting rods. Everything else is different on the VG33, but the cams are the same as VG30 though. The VG33 has a 91.5mm bore vs the VG30 87mm, use a DETT bottomend on a VG33 and it would hold 400hp easy.

Nope they are different, VG30 heads won't work.

Mechanic at the Nissan dealer said that the VG33 wasn't an "interference engine". Think the pistons have valve reliefs in them... not sure.

Curious too... a little more displacement never hurt. Anyone know the HP and torque?
