climate control runs on third speed in all modes

1994 GXE climate control fan runs on third speed. If I switch to manuel it will show the different fan blades going from 1-4. It always runs on third speed except when manuelly switching to high. It will go to high but never comes down to low or second speed even though the indicator shows it to be in lower speeds. Any help?

for those of you that cant adjust the speed and it only works on the highest setting, I've heard many people in the past with that same problem and you simply need to replace some resistor for a few dollars and it'll fix it

search for more specific details if you're interested

Thanks for the replies, although it seems from looking at other threads concerning blower motor, that the fan does not run on 1,2,and 3, only on 4. Mine runs all the time on high regardless of the speed I put it on. The fan indicator lights up the different fan blades indicating to me the switch is working properly. Also runs on high when system is turned to off. I don't think I have the typical resistor. I pulled it out of the air duct, it has about 16 little tubes that are on the inside of the duct. The three wire plug is attached to this.

Fix for blower that is stuck on #3 speed

The fans first 3 speeds are driven by the "amplifier" module located in the ducting behind the glove box. If the fan is stuck on #3 speed, it is likely the power transistor inside this module has internally shorted. The part number is 2SD1297 formerly made by NEC and is only worth a few dollars. The bad news is that NEC no longer makes this part and it is hard to find.

Re: Fix for blower that is stuck on #3 speed

It is a bad resistor located behind the glove box...for the auto climate control unit, the resistor cost me $76.00 at the dealer (they had to order it from somewhere) but it was an original nissan part.

the resistor for the manual climate control costs $14.00.
