Ecu
Ecu
when i buy a JWT ECU do they sell the whole box thing so all i have to do is plug the new one in and mount it or do they only sell the electronic chip thing that i would have to take the box apart and put it in?
Well...
First you have to call them, make sure they're not overloaded so you can ensure a quick return. Two, by return I mean that you have to remove YOUR ecu and ship it to them either with payment (not cash). Hopefully you've paid up front by CC. You tell them what you've done to your car, hopefully this is the last mod you plan to do so that you gain the most from the upgrade. When you get it back, the whole thing, you will notice a little chip with it. That chip is your old one, inside is the new and improved JWT product. Now, reinstall making sure to line up the pins properly. Oh, and for your own safety and your cars, disconnect the battery before removing/reinstalling the ecu!
Not exactly
They prefer to match the ecu to the vehicle it came from. If this is a problem then you can check out some online junk yards and get another ecu, you just have to match ecu codes to the one you're buying. I found an ecu in Kentucky for $75 shipped and has worked perfectly in my Max for the last year and presently. I'm going to have to have the upgraded JWT ecu reprogramed before I can put it back in. But, I'm rambling. $75 is much cheaper an option than what JWT will charge you till you send in your core (your old ecu). Suggestion, call them. (619)442-0680
