Buy another VG is the best way. Then replace the front/rear oil seals, cam oil seals, T-belt + tensioner, water pump, T-stat, exhaust manifold studs before installing the newer engine. Clean the upper intake collector while your at it too.

What were the circumstances leading to the spun bearing?

well i can tell you one thing...

my best friend(Nismo280zx) had a 1982 or 1983 buick regal, it was his grandmas and he got it after it had been a stolen vechicle recovery. anyway, the people who stole it took it down the highway at i think it was 65 or 85 in 2nd gear and werent planing on shifting anytime soon. end result was a few spun rod bearings and a project for him to work on while he was younger (13-15 +16 was maintence).

it was in excellent condition and a fun car but he sold it for $2500 towards the end of last (school) year now he's got a 1993 F350 stock highboy wearing 33" BFG All terrians with a 351W E4OD Borg Warner T-Case and he added 4:56 gears and Posi and free up exhaust a bit by means of a crow bar and the middle of his Cat.

anyway, thats the only story of spun rod bearings, i guess its when the motor is pushed way beyound its limits. oh yeah, my friend also has a 1980 280zx project car that he just got an engine for with 60,000 miles. the origonal one has 140,000 and "cocaine" in the lines, not too big of a problem, but he got the new once for $350, so its going to save alot of time.

later guys
