How come the intake won't fit on a 97?

What sort of issues/modifications would i need to do?

 

The 95-96 and 97-99 use a different air intake temerature sensor. Everything is the same other then this. The sensor is mounted in the mid pipe. I personally would use the stock resonator/midpipe and only use the lower portion of the cai. This is the best style intake there is. If you did that then it would work for 97-99

 

How much for just the lower portion?

My car already has a CAI, but its generic i think.

 

This is a generic as well. The only authentic cai is the place racing(Which is no longer made) or the cattman(which bought out place racing).

Or do you mean you have a hai? No lower portion?
