Problem with my CAI !!!
Alright I installed it right after christmas and I love the gains but lately Ive noticed less and less power even with my y-pipe installed...SO today I decided to go after the filter and see if it is clogged...Man is it ever...alot of muck and dirt and littly stuff in only 6 months...well the problem is that I didnt seal the hole the Intake Pipe goes into the fenderwell good enough and stuff was gettin down in there ...like road grime and stuff, How can I seal that gap because I cut the hole to spec but the pipe was samll for the hole ?? How much is a clean kit from K&N to clean the filter ?? Can I just Hose it off with water and let it out to dry for the day in the sun ?? ?? And how much decrease in power can result from a semi-clogged air filter ??

Since I didnt have a filter cleaner I put it back on dirty for the time being

Couple of things....first, make that hole that the CAI goes through smaller. Either find a thicker gasket than the one you have already or get a small rubber hose and cut it down one side. You can line the hole with this and snug the pipe in there really good if your hose is the right size and thickness.
Second, don't just wash the filter off with water and put it back on. Either buy a new filter if it's damaged or get a K & N cleaning kit from Kragen or wherever. Don't over oil the filter after you clean it either, or you'll damage the MAF sensor because the incoming air will suck up the excess oil. New MAF's are $$'s.
Good luck.

Well the hole size affects what gets down on the top of the filter, and in turn goes down the sides (water)...its all from the hood crease...if that was welded shut, like on the civic commercial, I wouldnt have a problem, but then I couldnt change my oil So Ill just find a thicker gasket
