Torn Driver side CV boot

Dear Fellow Maxi's,

I was reaplacing my brakes on my 95 GXE when I discovered that my CV boot is torn. Luckily there no damage yet because there is still grease everywhere on the shaft. Does anyone know how to fix this? Obviously it can't be too hard. However, I don't know exactly how to do it. Is there a link to a site that cant ell me? Or does someone know and can tell me?
On a slightly same note, my brakes were squeaking intermittenly. So I was going to replace my front brakes but they looked fine with about a quater inch of pad on both side on both wheels. Could the grease be causing this or are the metal vibator plates just old? Let me know.

thanks a buch

Pete

It's actually easier to replace the whole half-shaft (axle) than it is to put a new cv boot on there. It's been talked about a while back...

Take the wheel off, spindle nut, and pull the axle out. Put new axle in and put everything back on...

PM or Email me if you have any questions...

It's not that hard! There are bands on the CV joint that need to be cut. The axle is held in the joint by a retaining clip. I accidentally dislodged mine when just pulling the axle out. Once it's out, it is a piece of cake! clean up the joint, grease it up good, slip on a new boot and bands and you're done!

By the way, I am talking about outer CV joint not inner. I have not tried that yet.
