Will a high amperage battery burn up a diode in your alternator.

I took auto tech in high school, so I know a little bit, but those people at autozone told me my Optima battery could have "burned up one of my diodes" So I just thought I'd ask. Now I just have to replace the dam* thing.

High amp battery:

The higher amps is cold cranking power.

In other words.. It's how many amps the battery can supply to your car before it's started. So it has absolutely nothing to do with your alternator.

I think the key words here are "Autozone tech". These guys have been coming up with all sorts of stupid statements lately.

I wouldn't call the autotech class I took in high school autozone tech, I rebuilt a toyota twin cam V6 and other various engines I rebuild a couple of alternators, we did major work on 2 z cars, a 240 and 260. Not to mention all the other various odd jobs we took on. It has just been 2 years since I steped foot in a shop. So I'm a little rusty, and I needed to clarify some things.
