Raced a 3000GT-VR4...
Last night I took a ride on the highway by my house. A 3000gt came rollin up and I didnt get to see what kind of model it before we raced up top but it had all these gauges and stuff and exhaust...I raced him from 60 to about 95 and we were dead even...i figured it was a sl...I get up alittle bit and they roll next to me and ask me if Im supercharged...I said nah only an intake and part of my exhaust...I let him roll by me to see what model it was and it was a VR4...we were trying to get a light, I knew I was going to lose really bad but I really didnt care...We got to a light finally and I was talkin to him...I asked him if he was turboed and he said two. he said my car sounded really good. by then the ligth turned green and I got a pretty good launch at 3K...I jumped ahead and by about top end 2nd, 50, I hear his turbo's spool up and gone...GOD DAMN<<<<those things are sick...I really dont know what he had done but I felt like I was standing still...I even looked down top see if my car was still reving..sick fast man

60 to 95 and you were dead even with a VR4? You sure he wasn't just playing around with you? VR4's are fast as heck. He should have left you way behind from the start on the street too. I don't know maybe the guy can't drive?

Because exhaust gasses will flow out of the turbine easier, something as simple as a downpipe or exhaust system will actually allow more boost pressure, without the use of a boost controller, thats why turbo cars gain so much from simple mods. They are bottlenecked, and when the bottleneck is removed, they make a few lbs more boost and thus the huge power gains.

i think he was playing with you on the 60-95. vr-4's are sooooo quick. they run mid to low 13's stock and as far as off the line goes, it doesnt matter how long it took his turbos to spool, he is all wheel drive. so i say he is a bad driver and prolly cant handle the cars power. none the less good job

i think he got a turbo-back exhaust
those are supposed to give huge gains for turbocharged cars, cause i think there's a ton of air going in and getting stuck with a lot of backpressure, so a turbo-back exhaust i guess makes it less restrictive and the air can flow more freely.

he was definatley playing with you. and yes 40-60 hp gains with turbo depending on what system you get. mine i put ATR PIT BULL "mandrel bent pipes" 99% of straight pipes. but who said his friedn put straight pipes back from the turbos... your friend is dreaming they gooked up these cars exhaust systems god. the biggest pipe you could get thru there would be 3.5 and then that is even pushing it. the rear X-fer case gets in the way. they split the exhaust after the muffler on the left side into the right side. its not even true dual exhaust.
but i can vouch for the hp gains i ran 14.0 stock and added K&N intake blow off valve and a $1000 exhaust system and then i was seeing 12.9 "i turned up the boost a little too but thats because you can once you remove the restrictive sheot. but i dunno how much torque your max has but you sholdnt have been able to get a good jump on him especially if he was modded. the turbos kick in at around 2000 rpms if you dont have a boost controller. then these bad boys start out with 320 ft/lbs of torque. hmmmmm and 1st gear lasts until 45 mph. so he had to be spooling before that. 2nd gear last until 90 so i know if he was modded he had to be pushing 400+ hp. im at 430. and all i have is; exhaust, boost c., intake, bov, and an afc. so all in all its doable. but some one said they are heavy.... YEAH BABY with me in it the track said it was 4000 pounds... lol
oh well but good that you didnt start ripping on him. i give you props that you respect em. i hate people that rip on my max and then i show em. or if they rip on "JAP CRAP" as my friend have before, i pull out my VR4 (aka ZO6 killer) and show em a thing or two about japanese engineering....

damn what have you done ta that biznitch???? what are you pullin in the 1/4? i have only seen one other max that takes my gxe and thats because they have the auto speacial (custom) tranny. hmmmm
i would love ta see under your hood, how come you dont list all your mods? i wanna know what ya got. (list performance mods only i dont care about ground effects and other bull sheot...
i want you to get a better video of this cuz i could give my friends a little rubin in there noses cuz there second cars are all fords or chevys. and mines a max. they didnt believe me that if done right i could beat there vr4's

Something that might help to explain this is that on the interstate the difference between a 400hp car and a 200hp doesn't look as big as it does out of a light. I can think of Many many times I've run aginst friends in much much faster cars that destroy me out of a light and on the interstate I could almost make the call that we're dead even. Perhaps you rolled on the gas just that instant before him and in the 25 mph race you had (65-90) he wasn't able to make back the difference that you got from that .1 sec advantage you got. Just in my experiecne, VR-4's aren't all that fast It wouldn't surprise me for a max to almost get one.

PROPS, i have many questions for you. i havent decided to spray or not i did get the SC, and i have made the bpu's that almost everyone has; cold air, downpipe, custom exhaust(true duel), what else have you done to it? i was thinking about test pipe but i dunno. i have to keep the cats on because there not very big and they have to be on for emmisions when i have to take em and i wont pass. im hitting 280 hp on the dyno, but i need to get it done again to see since i got the exhaust after i had it done. what do you sugest. psi is low as hell im afraid ta turn it up... and i need ta get the UDP also. who did you go to?
