4th gen max Vs. 2002 Gti ?

Title is pretty self-explanitory, who would win with both cars stock with 5sp manuals?

I raced my friend's 2000 GTI and we were almost dead even.

the 2000 gti 1.8t only has 150hp and 155tq the new one has 180hp and 174tq so there is big difference. Are you an auto or manual abnorm and you lost right?

Given equal drivers my money is on you, however it will be quite close I think. SprintMax will put in his vote for the GTI I think though

it will be a close race. if he a VR6 then i would give it to him if u are unmodded. but it woudl be very close. if hes anything else you will kill him. but beware of the "chipped" GTI. it will pull like non other. have fun and race safe

VR6 is the motor, GTI is the car. You can have a VR6 in a GTI or a 1.8T in a GTI (or a 2.0L for that matter).

DTR however apparently doesn't know that the 5spd 4th gen is a quicker car than the VR6 GTI is.

It depends which vr6 the new 201hp or the old 180hp one. If it's the older won I will definetly win it does o-60 in only about 7.5sec the max you know does it in 6.6sec. The new one I don't know I haven't seen times posted for that one.

raced one this morning on the way to class... nothing like a little speed to wake ya up for class. anyway, from a role, 30mph.. i pulled on him just a bit. and from a stop... it was dead even to 65... silly police don't like racing. but we ended up pulling into the same parking lot at school and we talked for a min. he had a CAI and a fart pipe... though it did sound pretty good. but he gave me props... he didn't think a maxima could hang with him. by the way... i'm a 97spd...

FYI, you cannot get a 2.slow liter GTI anymore, not since 1997.

the new 5speed GTI's are quick. he didnt mention the year on the gti so that could play a factor, but if he is not a good driver and its a new GTI i would have to give it to the VW. but if the max driver can drive a stick well then its another story
