Question about Shims

Can someone tell me what kind and how many shims are suppose to be on the driveshaft where the bearing is?

The reason I am asking, is that I have a shim that allows the bearing to move quite freely, allowing the axel to play and therefore cause the infamous leak.

I was wondering what shims I need to hold the bearing tightly in place? how much are they? how many Should there be?

Thanks to all
