Question about air scoop/ boost sensor
Question about air scoop/ boost sensor
I currently have the Frankencar intake and was thinking about taking off the air scoop but I noticed there are two sensors on the scoop.
One in the front that is a boost sensor and the other at the end of
the scoop without any identification. (I'm assuming it is a temperature sensor). Is it O.K. to remove these sensors or should they be connected to anything?
I feel that I don't have as much power as I did before with the stock intake and wanted to remove the scoop and black box and use a Home Depot setup to bring more air in. I have searched but haven't found any answers on the sensors!
Any answers?
Thanks ahead of time,
Boo

Not sure what the air filter charger is. I had a stock filter box and replaced it with the Frankencar intake. I left the air scoop and the resonator below the scoop in.

I doubt you lost power with your new intake, maybe some low end, but your top end was increased. If you get the upper piping as well you will gain most of your low end back. I did.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Question about air scoop/ boost sensor
when i put in my cone filter i left the stock air scoop and bottom of the filter box in upon the advice of a friend of mine whose a mechanic and said itll still suck some of the colder air in from the scoop and ive found that i get real good pickup outta this setup
Okay um, no one answered his question, so I will.
The sensor closer to towards the throttle body, near your new cone FrankenCar filter is the ambient temp sensor. Just zip tie that anywhere near the cone, and you'll be fine.
The boost sensor should be fine anywhere else too. Just attach it to somewhere it can stay stable. If I'm wrong about this sensor, please let me know, because I also took off the stock air scoop and tied the sensor onto another thick piece of wire.

Thanks for all the info, I will go ahead and remove it this weekend and tie up the sensors. Hopefully everything will work out fine.
