exhaust putts when started....

Can anyone help me figure out why my exhaust putts when i start the car?? i happens for about 5 min after i start the car everytime i start it unless i just turned it off. instead of having a clean sounding vroooom to the exhaust it sound like a domestic!!! also, the check engine light keeps turning on and off.... i checked the code and it was an 05 05, that came out to be no error or something like that. i was thinking maybe a sensor is bad??? And my max feels slower plus the motor is ticking a lot more then i remember... blahblahblah.... help

Ben

I know that if you don't reset the computer properly, it will flash the CEL on and off constantly, with no apparent pattern while driving.

I think this is actually an O2 Diagnostics thing. I forget how it works, but I read it I think in the Chilton's manual...I'll have to look it up.

Anyway, did you reset it correctly?

this is the first time that i've ever seen the ECU, so it just went on and off on it's own.. i was thinking it was the spark plugs or the o2 sensor but i wasn't sure.. i went to nissan on my break today (fri) and they said it may be the spark plugs. i'm gonna put the factory spark plugs back in the car sunday when i have time and see if that works. shouldn't the ecu pull some kind of error code if the CEL is on?!?! i used to love my max till nissan said they'd "fix" it....
