Tires: Proxes TPT or MXV4+ ?

I have a '99 SE (stock) and am considering either Toyo Proxes TPT or Michelin MXV4+ tires. Does anyone have suggestions? I have searched through posts and read mixed reviews on the MXV4+ tires. My wife's Jetta has these, and they are very quiet and have excellent steering response. I currently have BFG KDWS 225-55-16 and hate them. The steering response is mushy and feels much worse than the stock Proxes did, and the 400 treadwear is bulls&%*t since they lasted half as long as the stock Proxes with a 280 rating! Also they have gotten VERY LOUD after 22k miles, possibly because my alignment was slightly off, but the stock Proxes went 55k miles and were not near as loud. My main concerns are:

- steering response
- long treadlife
- low noise

The Bridgestone Potenza RE950 meets all those requirements. I and several other members have them and love them.

They sound pretty good on tirerack, but several Maxima reviewers say they think the RE950s are noisy...?

I had the toyo proxes a05 before and didnt feel like spending 200 a tire. The tire dealer said the tpt's would be better for traction and noise level. I got em and like them alot better.

That sounds like a great deal to me! I saw them advertised at a local place for $99 each (215/55/16). I called, and their total price is $525 for the set installed. Too much! How did you get discounts (your job or something)?

my mother boss was given a bunch of preferred member discounts when he bought his tires under the business... so she gave me one of the cards.... i get a discount on the tires plus tons of services for free, like snowtire changeover (if i ever get a nice set of rims that will be handy) and everything pretty sweet if you ask me
