Winter Tires: Pirelli Winter Asimmetrico

Winter Tires: Pirelli Winter Asimmetrico
I'm looking into buying two of these to replace my front tires which are not dead but not good enough for the snow. I can get 2 shipped for about $216 on tire rack.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/pirelli/pi_win_210_a.jsp

Are these any good, what other tires should I look at, is it ok to run two winter tires up front and 2 H rated all seasons at the back?

a search on this topic produces only one relevent reply so I am hoping for some more feedback before a purchase

yes... my rims are already all messed up (as in not good enough for show) so they are now my winter / off road / summer rims until I buy some new ones

Good tires. I have 4 15" tires on steel wheels. If you have only 2 winter tires up front, the back tires will fish tail when braking and turning, depending on conditions. Get winter tires for all 4 wheels. If you can't afford it, then buy 2 new M+S tires for the front.

doh... I really want to wear down my stock toyos on the rear so that I need 4 Z rated ones in the spring.

will it really be that bad if i only buy two front snow tires?

Here in Mass. it's ileagle for a tire shop to put only 2 snow tires on a front wheel drive car.

NTB in MA will put two snows on a FWD car. You just have to be persistent. I agree it's not the best idea, but as long as you know you will have a tail happy car, there's nothing wrong with putting snows up front so you can get the car moving. JMHO

I have them. The Winter 210A. They are high performace snow tires so they are good for winter highway driving. Great in snow, but don't know about ice. HR rate and not too loud.

I just noticed you just want two for the fronts. I would not recommand it. Either use all four or stick with all season. Mixing snow tires with regular tires could yield some funky handling in the snow.
