Help! Trying to take off Idler Pulley!
I've got the car up on jacks right now...d*mn, the space between the body and the idler pulley is like less than an inch!
I tried using a pair of vise grips to turn the nut but it won't work...any suggestions? I'm about to just give up and let a shop do it.

If it's a V2 kit... I didn't do that pulley yet, either...
I'll put it in when I do the SC pulley at the same time... I don't think there's enough room without removing the SC bracket assembly.

Re: Re: Re: Help! Trying to take off Idler Pulley!
You need to go under the car and make sure I doubt is a 14MM bolt but then again it might. I know my is 19MM and shadows was 19MM. And you got a V2 just like us. Just remove the wheel 3Min job remove the 3nuts 2min job and then loose the belt tensioner pulley thats a 14mm nut and then grab a long 3/8 extension and loosen the belt and do it from under the car unless your hands and wrist is made out of RUBBER THERES JUST NO WAY!!!!!!!IN all it should not go over 35Mins tops.

I've loosened the belt tensioner

with the 14mm socket and extension but I've checked the belt deflection and it seemed to not have changed. I've turned it both ways all the way to the end but there seems to be no difference in deflection. This morning I just turned it to somewhere in the middle and drove it with no problems.
Its strange that you have 19mm for this bolt:

The mechanic probably just reused the original bolt?
Looking at the pulley in its current condition it looks intact. No signs of stress or "melting"...its like how it originally came in the V2 kit. Nevertheless it needs to be replaced in order to remove any
doubts.
When you said to remove the 3 nuts you're talking about the ones by the power steering pump?

NO NO the ones that hold that plastic guard to access the 14MM nut to the belt tensioner pulley, You have to loosen that nut prior to loosening the belt and then after you tighten the belt then you tighten the belt tensioner pulley nut. Hope that helps!!!
that belt tensioner pulley is a 14MM nut the idler pulley the one you cant get the smooth pulley is a 19MM nut, you dont have it on the pic.

I give up! I nearly f'ed up the nut holding the belt tensioner pulley with the 14mm open end wrench...and now I hear a slight rattle (belt tensioner?) when I step on the brake before shifting out of park.
