I just remembered that A LONG TIME AGO, I received a letter from Nissan for a 02 sensor recall on some of the earlier 4th gens. I never went in the work. What was the problem with the 02 sensors? My car runs perfectly. I'm kinda afraid to take my car in now because I've got the y-pipe.

There was a high rate of Oxygen Sensor failures in the '95 and '96 Maximas. The Oxygen Sensor is a key part of the engine's emissions control system. Nissan has a legal obligation to repair or replace faulty emission control system components. These components are covered by a separate warranty (see your Owner's Manual).

The fact that many Oxygen Sensors failed does not mean that all of will fail, nor does it mean that the sensors in your Maxima are bad. If your car runs well and gets reasonable fuel economy, just keep driving. Enjoy the ride!
