Removing Rear "Window-Shelf"????

I don't know what that thing is called, but I was thinking about removing it. You know the place where the two 6 1/2" speakers are. I want to remove it so I can build a box that would fit perfectly and put my three JL Audio 8W6s in there. Is this even possible? Or does this just sound plain stupid. I wanted to do it at first and then realized that it would cost alot of money to do it and it would probably be more hassle than its worth. It would also possibly compromise the structural integrity of the car. What do you guys think? Sorry for the novel.

it'd probably work but you'd lose your 6 1/2" speakers in the rear. i don't think it'd be worth it. my idea for my max was to get a port put through the speaker deck so it would be louder, or even built right up to the hole in the back seat where you can reach through.... i dunno. I don't think i'd do it unless you have some other plans for the interior speakers.

Liquidfire3001 - putting 2 15" subs in the trunk would depend on how much cubic air space they needed.
